I had been a student and member of Christine Salus and her website for sometime now. Then by happenstance I got to meet her at a festival in Thailand for health conscious people. She was nice at first and over the next few days I got to know her. By the end of this time it became sadly apparent that she is another fitness fake using her anorexia and marketing gimmicks for profit.

She is a devout follower of 2 controversial and some would say immature health gurus of the low fat high carb lifestyle, who go by the name freelee and harley of "30 bananas a day”. I then realised she is parroting the same program they are but just in a different style.

After admitting to some she had been fighting an eating disorder over the years it became more obvious that “fitness gurus” like her are actually using there disorder to convince themselves they are healthy. Another thing she advises in her program is (caloric restriction) essentially not eating. Whats worse is that she advocates a diet that scientifically has been shown to work for very little peoples bodies, and more often then not cause nutrient deficiencies, teeth problems, distorted self image and the like. All of which i have started to see in myself.

One of her friends i met at the festival who helps with her marketing and website, told me candidly that "alot of the fitness gurus photoshop there pictures and often fake certificates and degrees" (like it wasn’t a big deal)..... I thought to myself Dude - WHERE IS THE INTEGRITY IN THAT??

Whats even crazier is when she told me she "only makes a workout video every week or so", the rest of the time she needs for letting her muscles “reset and rejuvenate” as she put it. Hearing that is almost comical. I wouldn’t be surprised if she takes breaks during her workouts only to edit the rest in later.

These kinds of deceptive people and programs need to be exposed. Its hard to accept the truth that when we want change we don’t judge or anaylze things clearly, and even worse start to idolise the very people who are tricking others and themselves.

In conclusion I have discontinuing my membership and relationship with Christine Salus. I’ve gained no visible health benefits, and I have aged more in the last 2 years than I have in the previous 33 years.

Inaccurate and unfair depiction of Christine Salus

#2Consumer Comment

Fri, January 15, 2016

I came across this article when searching for scams in the fitness industry and feel that this report is an innacurate depiction of Christine Salus' brand, channel, and character. The bulk of the issues attributed to Christine are based on conjecture, logical fallacies, and lack of actual evidence - other than alleging that she had a bried encounter with Christine at a fruit festival. Full disclosure: I am a fellow fitness personality who knows Christine personally and the industry very well.

These are the following complaints that I have with this report - line for line:
"She [Christine] and over the next few days I got to know her."
- Saying that she was "nice at first" implies that she ceased being nice at some point, but nothing in your article indicates that she treated you ill at any point in your interaction - so this suggestion is misleading at best.

"She is a devout follower of 2 controversial and some would say immature health gurus of the low fat high carb lifestyle"
- her association with Freelee, Harley, or any of her other friends should have no impact on how Christine is percieved. If anything, having the ability to befriend a wide range of friends speeks more to her have a decent character than not.

"it became more obvious that “fitness gurus” like her are actually using there disorder to convince themselves they are healthy"
- Christine has publicly discussed her former eating disorder and has helped to coach plenty of people out of falling victim to the same disorder. Your point is based of a bias that you have for those with eating disorders and you're simply looking to confirm your suspicions, instead of looking at this case objectively.

"She advises in her program is (caloric restriction) essentially not eating"
- You have yet to show tangible proof or quantify any of your complaints. Christine has never advocated calorie restriction and you didn't provide the amount of calories that you would consider restrictive. Seems purposely misleading.

"One of her friends i met at the festival who helps with her marketing and website, told me candidly that "alot of the fitness gurus photoshop there pictures and often fake certificates and degrees"
- Conjecture. Saying that "one of her friends" told you that some fitness gurus fake pictures and certificates seems to suggest that Christine also does this, but that isn't the case. Simply looking at Christines photos is proof that most of them are selfies and are unedited.

"she told me she "only makes a workout video every week or so"
- one video per week is industry standard on YouTube [typically on Sundays or Mondays].

In short, all of your claims are poorly strung together assumptions - that mostly aren't attributed to Christine, herself. Basically this is just  gossip and not "exposing" Christine in the least. I really hope that people would have more definitive proof before trying to smear someone's name. Especially those as kindrted, giving, and sincere as Christine.
