I am a college student who was curious as to what his credit rating was. I saw ads for a "free" credit report, and thought that would be a fine idea. A month after signing up, my credit card was charged $79.95. I had not recieved anything from the company at all, and I was never informed of any possible charges.

As a college student, I am sturggling to cover my education, and cannot afford a ridiculous charge for a "free" credit report. After calling the company, I was told that I would be issued a refund and sent a confirmation notice.

I also called my credit union in order to dispute the charge. This company is nothing but greedy thieves taking advantage of people who are interested in their credit rating. I pray that they are shut down soon before others fall to their scam.

Being an educated college student, you should have known better than to sign up for something without reading the fine print.

Yes, the credit report is free, but it automatically signs you up for a service called Credit Monitor, which you will be charged for unless you CALL TO CANCEL WITHIN THIRTY (30) DAYS.

This is clearly stated in the free credit report ad. Unfortunately you chose to read the word FREE and jump right into something that you did not bother to research.

May this be a life learning experience for you -- Always read all the details before you sign up for something. Ignorance is not a virtue in today's competitive world.
