CIC Credit Monitor Service- Consumerinfo.com ripoff scam Orange California
I was casually checking my credit card balance online when I noticed a $79.95 charge from a "CIC Credit Monitor". I had no idea what this was, so I put the company name in a Yahoo! search.
Not only did consumerinfo.com's site appear, but also the "Rip-off Report" site. First, I went to the my e-amil to see if I had any correspondence with the consumerinfo.com site. I had not. Then I went to the site to find contact info, so I could contact them by phone.
I got a "customer service" (I use the term loosely...)number and was told I requested a report and signed up for a yearly membership. When I told the individual I had not, we proceeded to go back and forth for several minutes. After reqesting to speak to a manager, I was met by silence followed by "Well, there's really anything they could do about this because that's our billing policy". At this point, I ended the conversation and returned to the "Rip Off Report" site.
I was surprised to see how many other individuals had oddly similar experiences to mine. I decided to file a report myself and offer my services to the pending class action lawsuit. I am currently in the process of disputing the charge on my card.
