Just made an inquiry to my credit card company about this Cic Credit Monitor Service. Then curiously typed in a search for the company, which sadly brought me here.

After reading these complaints I already know how they got me. I too, got a "free" credit report. I didn't bother reading the fine print - if there even was any. I was too busy viewing my credit report. Also... so does that mean they can access our credit reports as well?

I am researching & am definitely going to raise hell. I'm a single mother and that's $80 I can most positively use.

Getting your money back is easier than you think!

It saddens me to see how many more posts have been added since I originally submitted mine - last month!

My $79.95 was refunded/posted to my account in 4 days!

1) When finding the unauthorized charge to your accounts - IMMEDIATELY call your credit card company or bank. State that it is an unauthorized charge and demand to file a dispute. They will get the ball rolling & may send you a form to fill out.

2) Contact CIC Credit Monitoring.... stay tough! My conversation was as follows...

ME: "There is an unauthorized charge from you. I DID NOT give you permission to take (STEAL) that money from me."
CIC: "Did you apply for a credit report recently?"
ME: "A FREE ONE!"
CIC: "It's not free. When you apply for the report, if you don't opt out/cancel within 30 days you will be charged $79.95."
ME: "Where does it say that? Next to the word free?"
CIC: "In the terms & conditions section." Blah, blah, blah! (which happens to be two or three pages down - at the very end of the page.)
ME: "Who the hell is going to search for that? Shouldn't that be stated at the top of the page where it says FREE?? I was too busy reading my credit report. I am well aware that there is a lawsuit pending against your company & this will be another strike against you and your fradulant actions. This is unacceptable & I expect a refund!"
CIC: "I can cancel your subscription today & we will refund the $79.95 to your account."

Stand your ground, DO NOT let them take control of the conversation. I did call CIC back three days after my original call to confirm that they were following through with the refund. Notes on my account (which should have never been in the first place) stated that the money was being refunded. The full $79.95 was refunded to my credit card the next day!

I was nervous at first after reading all of the posts regarding CIC, and figured I was screwed. I was surprised how easy it was to get my money back.

Try it!

It's a shame that CIC can keep doing this. Isn't there a way to put these fools out of business?

A happy refund recipient,
