Being concerned about my credit history, I provided the information they requested in order to obtain my FREE credit report. However, the report never arrived (it was requested to arrive via email). Although disappointed, I assumed that this was just another scam to obtain my email address.

Today I learned that some company called CIC Credit Monitor Service has charger $79.95 to my credit card. For what?

After finding badbusinessbureau.com I learned that these are the people that had promised to send me an accurate, up-to-date credit report.

They have provided me nothing in the past and I owe them nothing for their fraudulent behaviour. I shall cancel my credit card if they do not allow me to dispute this claim!

Cancel that card anyway--it's worse than you think!

What you did in applying for a Free Credit Report (never received) was purchase a security credit monitering service. This means they would monitor your credit, locate and give you hard to find credit information. You are now a member and have a subscribtion, which comes with the $79.95 fee.

At this point, you still have a refund option, but you need to move fast. The refund option will expire, and you will be permanently ripped off.

It sounds like you already have a contact number, but just in case: 1-888-888-8553 cancel immediately.

Change your account number or cancel the card if you necessary. You don't want to leave them a window of opportunity.

Working with your dispute department is good, but for the record you should send them a written letter. The letter has to state you are NOT a member, and will NOT be in the future. Then basically cover all information, which transpired by phone. Send that at the least with a Post Masters mailing certificate, if not Certified Signature Required. You need to have some kind of evidence on file, just for the record.

You probably won't have any problem getting that refund.

Hope this helps.
