CIC Credit Monitoring aka ConsumerInfo.com rip-off! A charge of $79.95 just appeared on my debit card. I did not authorize the service to charge my account. Internet
I've never heard of CIC Credit Monitoring, so it was a surprise to me when I found a charge on my debit card from them for $79.95. In mid-2003, I did look into my credit history because I was looking to buy a house and wanted to be prepared when speaking with the banks and lending companies. I do recall filling out the form for a free credit report through ConsumerInfo.com. Recently, I have come to understand that CIC and ConsumerInfo.com are affiliated or one in the same.
After I signed up for the free report (which basically told me nothing), I could not find a way to cancel the account so I would not be charged in the future, so I sent them an email stating that I do not wish to be billed for their service in the future. I thought I took care of it. I was never charged... until July 9th, 2004.
What a scam! CIC should be shut down.
