I was taking advantage of a "FREE" credit report that is offered to Michigan residents once a year. I clicked on it through a link in the Michigan government pages. I got the free credit reports as I expected but saw nothing stating I was signing up for a credit monitoring service. I have been getting charged for 4 months now of $12.95.

I called the number on my credit card statement and proceeded to be told that they could not find my account. They first asked for my SSN and I refused. Then they asked for my CC# and I refused. Then they tried on my email address and found 2 accounts. Supposedly both accounts were inactive. One because I had not supplied CC information and the other was "incomplete". I continued to let them know I was getting charged and there was something in their systems initiating the charge. She then convinced me to share the CC# and I did. (I hope that doesn't come back to haunt me) They still did not find an account that was open. Then they convinced me to share my SSN and still did not find anything. So at this point I felt I was getting the run around.

They finally came back and asked that I mail a copy of my credit card statement to:

I have disputed this with my Credit Card company and will see if I can get my money back. I now worry about having to get charged every month because we can't stop the charges.
