I wanted a "free" credit report and went to experian direct.com and did not read the fine print that connects a $14.95 monitoring fee after a very brief trial period. I only realized this when I saw my Visa bill and disputed the fee. The fee was already being charged for the next month too! I called them at 866-431-3471. I asked for a cancellation code and she told me they didn't have one but she did give me her agent ID # so I wrote that down. She told me there would be an email coming to verify the cancellation. This is outrageous and misleading for a consumer. When I first went online about a month ago, this link appeared near the top so as an unsuspecting consumer I went there. The only true "FREE" report is by annualcreditreport.com sponsored by the government and now it appears at the top of Google links.
