Last year i signed up for a free credit report in which i was charged 79.95 for. i was not worried about it since i believed it was a one time thing. I did not know it was an automatic renewal. I was under the impression that i would have had to call and renew the membership. Well, i go on the computer at work yesterday and noticed my account is overdrawn. Turns out that the company CIC credit monitoring charged me again this year.

I called them as soon as i saw this charge. It felt like such a waste of time. I waited on hold for almost 30 minutes. When someone finally did get on the phone, she pretended to be nice until i told her i wanted to cancel my membership. After about 10 minutes of her trying to persuade me to keep my membership and all the benefits, i interrupted her several times and said no, no, no.... i asked to speak to her supervisor. she told me it would take 7-10 days to refund my money. I work at a bank and have worked at several banks over the years and i know an electronic wire only takes one day to complete. I asked them why it takes them 7-10 days. the response i got was that it is our standard operating procedures.

They also told me that they were not liable for my overdraft charges but that i could fax a request to customer relations and they would refund it but that would delay my refund. i decided to call my bank and explain the situation to them. I was told to come into the bank because accounts can not be discussed over the phone. The banker told me that i would need a letter from the company (CIC credit monitoring) on their letterhead in order to refund the overdraft fee because i explained to her that the charge was in error. I called CIC back once again and that was a bigger waste of time.

I was told by CIC that they do not fax these things for people because it is a security breach. I was like you have to be kidding me. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they give you this big song and dance about hearing the same thing over again. the supervisor is no more of a help than the worker.

Turns out that i received an email from cic stating the charge was in error and i faxed that over to the bank and it was good enough. This all happened yesterday so i will keep you guys informed as to when and how i get my money....

Do not ever deal with these people and be sure to tell all of your friends never to deal with them.. They are the biggest ripoff.
