CIC Credit Monitoring ripoff $79.95 withdrawn from checking 1 year after cancellation Internet
Over a year ago my husband and I signed up for the free credit report. A month later we noticed $79.95 withdrawn from our checking account and immediately contacted the company. We were charged this because we did not cancel during the 30 day free trial.
Fine, we did not dispute this with the company and promptly canceled our membership. One year later, again $79.95 withdrawn from our account. CHECKCARD 06/12 CIC*CREDIT REPORT 800-2202626 showed under pending transactions on our account.
I called the 800 number and received a recording stating their business hours, but no company name. I called my bank (Bank of America) who told me that I need to call the claims department once the transaction has been processed. That dept. will then decide if I authorized this. NO I DID NOT!
On top of that I have the $30.00 overdraft fee for each transaction that may have bounced! I will raise hell and will update with the final outcome...

My husband called CIC after locating a phone number for them on consumerinfo.com. "Jack" said that he never cancelled a year ago, which he did, and cancelled the acct that day. He said we would receive a prorated amount of $79.51 in 7-10 days. I called my bank and filed a dispute for an unauthorized charge on our card. Bank of America put a temporary credit of $79.95 back into our account. A few days later CIC did credit the $79.51 and I cancelled the dispute with the bank. I still not happy that they got us for $.44, adds up when they do that to a bunch of people, but it's better than dealing with a huge mess. Good luck everybody!
