Imagine my disgust when I discovered a charge for $79.95 on a credit card that I had not been using recently and had been trying to get paid off!

I called the phone number listed with the company name, hoping to cancel whatever it was--and someone named Nick in Dallas answered the phone and said that he was in a mailroom and did not know what I was talking about. My next stop was the Internet. According to this site, apparently I am not the only person that has been taken. This is a horror story! And it has been going on for years!

Several months ago, I do remember signing up for a FREE credit report, with the idea that I would then be given an opportunity, if I chose, to purchase a service that would let me know if bad credit was charged to my name. I certainly was not going to continue. It was an aggravating ad that I wanted to make disappear so I could get on with my work. I am a teacher and have found a wealth of valuable, current information to use in my classroom.

I hope it is not too late for me to put in my $.02 in hopes of recovering $79.95! Yes, buyer, beware. But this is a sneaky case where you don't realize you even are a buyer!

Perseverence Paid Off Literally

Upset by being ripped-off by a company and then overwhelmed by the number of people who for years had had a similar situation, I heeded the advice of my credit card company and called the number they gave me. I could tell that the person on the other end was trying her best to talk me into a lesser settlement, but I WAS able to cancel my membership and requested a full refund. I can't help but believe that previous controversies paved the way for me to get my refund. They do not want more trouble! Thanks, folks, for sharing your experiences.
