Once upon a time, I took "freecreditreport.com" up on its offer of a free credit report. Promptly canceled the service upon checking the report, as I did not want to pay the 80 bucks or whatever it was - I just wanted the free report with no further obligation as advertised. Lo and behold, months later, there is a phantom charge on my check card for $79.95 from "CIC Credit Monitoring". It took a while to go through, and appeared and disappeared over the course of a month from my online banking account - but it seems to finally have stuck and now I need to call the bank. A pain in the a*s for sure. How is it that this company is able to simply take people's money without asking? Isn't that illegal? WELL IT SHOULD BE. THESE BASTARDS NEED TO BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS BEFORE THEY RIP OFF ANYONE ELSE. And just think - if for every ten or twenty of us that spotted the fraud, there is even one person who didn't... then CIC is still making tens of thousands of dollars if not more in STOLEN MONEY.

Shame on them.
