I signed up for a free credit report at mycosumerinfo.com. I signed up for a credit report only, after the registration it said that I was enrolled in a free credit monitoring service, with no mention of a trial period,or any future charges. A few weeks later I noticed a $9.95 charge on my credit card. I called their customer service #(1-888-888-8553) and demanded that my membership be cancelled. The woman asked me why I wanted to cancel and I explained it to her, she then gave me an obviosly pre-prepared response. I said "look, just cancel my membership" , she then asked me "why cancel now when you get all these great services" and she went on to talk about how great their service was. She made numerous attempts to talk me in to keeping the account open, and even to sign up for more stuff. I had keep telling her" I don't want to hear all of this,I just want you to cancel my membership"

Again, I'm an employee of Consumerinfo.com and the following statements are my own.

Check the very first page of Consumerinfo.com. On the left hand side, under important information, it'll explain the billing. Basically, that free report you got was part of a trial membership. If the company doesn't receive a request to cancel, it's assumed you want to continue.

I hope that was helpful
