CIC CREDIT MONITORING SERVICES Charged credit card even though no goods or services were received consumer rip-off fraud Orange California
Recently, ConsumerInfo.Com (AKA CIC Credit Monitoring Services) placed a charge on my credit card for $79.95. I was quite surprised, because I had only applied for a free credit report over 2 years ago. I have not received any goods or services from this company. I have not received any mail at all from this company to indicate that I am a client or even to advertise!
I disputed the charge, and the $79.95 charge was removed. However, on my last DiscoverCard statement, it says that the charge has been placed back on my bill as a "reversal of temporary credit".
This happened without any notification from either DiscoverCard or ConsumerInfo.com as to why it was reversed.
Remember, I don't have any relationship with this company. If you check out their web site you will see that they are supposed to send you credit statements. I haven't received any credit reports at all after the first one (free trial) with this company two years ago. It's quite a shock to see that they are charging me for services they do not render. It's also quite surprising that DiscoverCard would go along with this type of fraud.
The internet is full of reports of problems with this company charging unwary consumers, especially at badbusinessbureau.com.
