Complaint Review: CIC Triple Advantage AKA Freecreditreport

I called their phone number, 877-481-6826, on the day I ordered a free credit report from them, 9/29/2005 and cancelled my account with them. One month later I encurred a $12.95 charge on my debit card for credit monitoring service. I have disputed the charges through my bank and have changed my debit card number as a precaution.

I called their customer service number again today, 11/1/05, and was informed that they had no record of my cancelling the account with them. I asked to cancel my account AGAIN, and was told the same thing as before, that my account had been cancelled and I could rest assured that I would not redeive any more charges from them.

I called back again five minutes later and the person on the other end confirmed that my account had been cancelled as of today. I looked up the company on rip-off report.com and discovered that over 1000 other cases had been reported of the same thing happening. Something more needs to be done to this company. They either need to be shut down or sued into bankruptcy.
