2 months ago I attempted to obtain my credit report. After entering all the required data and hitting submit, I recieved an error message. I went through the entire process again. Recieved the same error.

Today while reviewing my bank statement, I noticed a $12.00 deduction which I was not familiar with. I wrote down the necessary information on it. Then I checked the previous month to see if this deduction was listed there also. Yep, sure was.

The check was written to "CIC Triple Advantage".

I called the listed phone number associated with the transaction and I am connected with Experian, one of the three major companies that keep an illegal history on everyone. I discovered that CIC Triple Advantage is an affiliated company of Experian.

I explained to the representative about the incomplete transaction and naturally I am advised about the 30 day grace period. My question to her was, isn't it amazing that your company recieved a "transaction complete message" and I recieved just the opposite. I never did get the credit report.

So the account was closed effective immediately.
I suppose I should add that the person I talked to was very pleasant and took care of this matter.

In today's internet we have to constantly be aware of people looking for a scam to run. Why even businesses are doing the same. Credit report companies included.

I would really like to know what gives these companies the right in the 1st place to collect information on people.
