Wow, I ceratinly am not alone. A lot of people have had the same experience as me. We signed up for a free credit report at freecreditreport.com and one month later ... surprise! A $12 charge on our credit cards. Many have written that it is really hard to cancel. I didn't have that problem. I called 877-481-6826 and pressed "1" for cancellation. The fellow was nice and cancelled my account. Then I insisted on a refund. He refused, calling the charge "nonrefundable". I said B***S***, let me speak to a supervisor. He said "not available". I said, "I'll hold". He put me on hold and came back with more stonewalling. I asked for his supervisors full name. He said sorry can't do that for security reasons. I said, yeah, you all must be very scared. This went on until I lost my patience, called him a bad name and slammed the phone down. Then I called back and listened to the menu again. There is a selection for "billing inquiries". I think it was "4". I hit that and the lady who answered was not only sympathetic, she refunded my $12. Great day! Thought I would share.
