Being a single woman who had to work 2 jobs just to be able to barely make ends meet, I could not afford a computer. So I bought a Mail Station and had the service for a year. At the end of the first year, they automatically charged my credit card for another years worth of service. I was able to afford to buy a Web TV, and no longer needed the service, so I called to cancel the account.

Imagine my suprise when I called and found out that Cidco had sold the company to Earthlink. I spoke to Valerie who said I would get a refund of $66.64 and to call back on May 24th 2002. I called back on May 24th, and they said it may take up to 2 weeks for the credit to show. I called on June 21, and spoke with Nick, and again on June 24th, to Kyle, who both told me it had been processed and I would get my refund of $66.64.

I called on July 8th and spoke with Melanie who gave me a tracking number, she took all my information and said she would contact me. On July 11th, Melanie CALLED ME AT MY HOME for the rest of the info and said it was being processed. I called again on July 20th and spoke with Keenah, she pulled up the tracking number and said what was holding up the refund was that since I paid for a year, I got 2 months free, so now my refund was going to be $58.03.

I called AGAIN on Sept. 1 and a lady named Kathryn couldn't even find me in the system, so she put m on the phone with Priscilla. She told me she needed a serial number. I told her I already had 2 tracking numbers, but I would have to find the mail station since I had moved. On Sept. 2 I spoke with Kristen who put me on the phone with a supervisor named Adam, I told him I had been trying for 4 months to deal with this and complied with every request that they had made upon me. He said he didn't even have me on file. He told me to write everything down and to fax it in. I did exactly that on Sept 9th 2002.

The last phone call I made was to Shane on Dec 15, and he said I was not in the system, I was not going to get a refund, and Earthlink was not responsible. He said he would have someone call me to explain it all.....I am still waiting, almost a year later for that phone call. I even contacted the credit card company and they gave me a temporary credit, but then took it back because Earthlink drug it out for so long. Had I have known it was going to take almost 2 years to resolve this issue, I would have gone to the credit card company first. but they only do 180 day disputes.

This is not the first time I have been screwed by a company and probably won't be the last, but I am sick of it. If I had all the money I had been cheated out of, I could be sitting on some tropical beach right now, with a drink with a fuzzy umbrella and a house boy named Juan to attend to my every need. Please do what ever you can to bust these crooked companies.
