We wanted to find something that would give us at least a discount on dental work. I found this company that charged only $14 for a couple per month.

It listed all the prices we would pay. It even had the dentist that we had been to before that we liked. No where did it say that we couldn't cancel.

We went to the dentist and there was no discount, we were paying the same prices. When I called to cancel, they said that I couldn't.

They said that I could continue to pay monthly or pay the balance up front. I didn't know what to do since they had my credit card number.

When my husband called them about this, they said they didn't give your money back. Consumers Beware! Do better research then I did and don't chose Eastern Dental!

Your complaint would be about the company you purchased the product from and not with CIGNA.

I would like to first point out that the product Dental Network Access (DNA) and Dental Network Solutions (DNS) are discount programs, and are NOT sold by CIGNA.

3rd Party companies, lets say a car insurance company, may choose to sell a discount dental plan to an individual (or likewise a website). The company selling the plan makes the rules, this would not be a CIGNA plan. The 3rd Party is merely "leasing" the CIGNA Dental network of dentists.

This means the 3rd Party selling the DNA or DNS plan is the owner of the plan and are just using CIGNA dentist's (who do not work for CIGNA, but are merely contracted with CIGNA), rather than trying to setup their own network of dentists.

Moreover as far as not being able to cancel your plan during the middle of the year you probably did not check into any type of "laws" or "regulations" regarding this type of situation. Have you ever tried to cancel or change your dental "insurance" plan (not discount plan) during the middle of the year. Your employer will say no (with a few exceptions from "some" specific employers).

You may want to post your complaint against the company you purchased the plan through and not CIGNA. I will remind you again, CIGNA is just providing the dentists and contract (the contract being the discounted rates), the company you purchased the plan through is the owner and we know this because the set the name of the product (i.e. it could be owned by Farmers Insurance and be named Dental Discount Plan (DDP) if they wanted too).

You may find this product sold by: Consumerbenefits.net (www.consumerbenefits.net/dental-insurance-cigna.htm), Wright & Company (www.wrightandco.com/Plans/Dental/dentalnet.htm), or AHC (www.bestdiscountbenefits.com/AHCDescriptionsInfo.htm)

This should prove to you that any company can sell this product and it should be considered more like a "franchise" company than a "corporation". Your complaint again, would be about the company you purchased the product from and not with CIGNA.
