CIH Equipment Company Inc Deceptive Oldsmar, Florida
Be very wary of this company! They will take your money whether they can repair your equipment or not. They will charge to "calibrate" your equipment, then a week later when the equipment fails, tell you that purchasing a new unit is recommended. Why didn't they tell you that in the first place? So they can take your money for a shoddy service first!
For calibration services, I recommend you call Wilner-Greene at 800-634-4327.
If your equipment needs repair, be cautious! They will tell you that they can repair it but then send it to the manufacturer after a nice price markup. You would be better off sending it directly to the manufacturer yourself. Yes, it may take longer but at least you know it is being done right.
As for their rental program, it is a joke! They will act like they are renting you their own equipment but in actuality, the equipment comes from ArgusHazco! You will save time and money by calling ArgusHazco yourself at 800-332-0435.
The owner, David Silver, can be very unprofessional and short tempered. I tried speaking with him on several occasions regarding his company's calibration practices and he spoke to me like I was bothering him or wasting his time. The conversation usually ends with him yelling like he is imbalanced or unstable.
It is recommended that you avoid CIH Equipment Company at all costs!

Few years ago I use CIH Equipment service to change battery in sealed case (industrial hygiene sampling pumps), the job was "ok", not great, but ok, Recently I have to calibrate my TSI Portacount (use in respiratory protection) and after reading some comments on the web (including this particular ripoff report) I finally chose Wilner-Greene...a very bad decision. Here the copy of the report I just write on them:
"First, sorry for my poor English (living and working in the French area of Canada)
I had to calibrate my particle counter: TSI portacount 8020. The module have 9 years old, but I did have a very very low using level, it always work perfectly, so I was very pretty sure the module was in good shape and need only an calibration check. Because some confusion about the TSI support for this model… I do not process with TSI, but send it to Wilner-Greene's Laboratory … (or NistLab Sab … same people) who offer “clearly” the calibration service for this on their website.
Weeks after, they tell me the laser emitter/signal receiver module and condensing tube heater module was too weak to process, and all that need to be “replace”. To put in “refurbished parts + calibration + shipping … the price jump from 850$ (calib + ship) to 4600$!!! I simply ask to shipping it back to me for a “second evaluation”, and they seem very unhappy about that … and give me all kinds of very creative dissuasive arguments and strongly insist on the fact that TSI will not help me here.
I receive the portacount… and realize… the module did not even “light-up” anymore...
So… I send it to TSI (by chance… they still support my 9 years model, ... not if over 10 years). When I receive back the module from TSI, the working reparation sheet was clear…. They did not find anything broken, but the keyboard panel was “disconnected” and the laser was …”MISSING” !!! At very best, this is totally unprofessional … otherwise … it is a theft!
My opinion: they were "absolutely" sure TSI did not support model anymore, so nobody credible will testify about this “fraudulently job” and… as Canadian citizen, it will be too hard for me to take legal action. So they did it!
Finally I must emphasize TSI was very very comprehensive in these even, a BIG Tanks to them. "
...So my experience is too short to make any comment on CIH, but about Wilner-Greene's Laboratory / NistLab Sab I can tell to stay far away!!!

This complaint is a walking advertisment for Wilner-Greene and a bad attempt at that. If equipment is sent in for Calibration, then a calibration is peformed. We are not responseable if the equipment fails to function "a week later" since a repair service was not ordered.
To clarify:
Calibrate 1.To determine, check, or rectify the graduation of (any instrument giving quantitative measurements).
