I was conned into the "Bellsouth Bundles" web of lies recently. I am usually not sold by commercial bull- but this time was an exception.

First step: I call bellsouth and enroll. The woman was more than helpful and friendly and made me feel very assured of my purchases. I purchased DSL lite first. I was supposed to get a 75.00 rebate for the modem and then a free digital camera or MP3 player. I chose the digital camera.( I never recvd my Modem rebate or my camera)COMPLAINT CALL #1:I was told that b/c I'd ordered DSL lite that I was not eligible for the Rebate OR the Camera.I argued that that wasnt the way I understood it. She was SO sympathetic and said "Tell you what.If you upgrade your DSL today,I think I can get you the MP3 player and just GIVE you the modem straight out."(So, I did it) BTW: IT IS REALLY NOT FASTER AT ALL!! Back to the original order day. I purchased my phones next. Together we shopped the Cingular Website and I picked out a plan and 2 phones. These phones were supposed to be free after rebate plus I was to receive an additional 30.00 visa gift card.

This order was placed the last week of October. She assured me that I would have my camera and all of my rebates before Christmas. She said to look for a "Welcome Package" to follow shipment of my phones. They would have all of my rebate info.

The packages never arrived. AND I was billed 2 shipping charges on ONE package. COMPLAINT CALL #2: I call to request my package and to express an over charge on billing. They corrected my billing and sent me ONE rebate form.I made the copies of my information, typed an additional letter stating that they only sent me ONE form and that the additional phone information was attached.(The form wasnt even the correct form - but having common sense- I made sure to include EVERY LITTLE DETAIL of EVERY little thing on their form. (MY BAD ! I DID NOT SEE WHERE IT STATED THAT YOU HAD TO SEND IN A SEPERATE FORM IN A SEPERATE ENVELOPE FOR EACH REBATE) - REALLY? Then why did they only send me ONE form? and THE WRONG form at that? Hummmmm??? Hoping that Id miss the "must be postmarked by "blank" date to be eligible"
COMPLAINT CALL #3,#4,#5...... I explain over and over in detail that the wrong form was sent, you HAVE all of the information neccessary, etc. Where the HEll is my rebate? Finally, last week I get a text. "We have recvd your rebate form and you can expect your rebate in 10 to 12 weeks.WEEKS??? (MY BAD again. I didnt notice THAT on their stinky lil form either- yes, MY BAD, Ive learned a VALUABLE lesson- Just because it says so on the commercial and just because the very helpful CSR says so - doenst mean its true)So, I pull up the "rebate status" on the Cingular Site and it shows ONE $50.00 Visa Gift Card to be sent my MARCH 15, 2006 (OCt, Now, Dec, Jan, Feb, MARCH??) And its still ONLY ONE rebate and STILL incorrect.COMPLAINT EMAILS START THEN (IE.DOCUMENTATION)Yesterday I recv a reply that a seperate form has to be sent out for each. Please pull the forms from our website, complete exactly as each states and mail in seperate envelopes. The form for the NOKIA isnt on there ! The form for the Samsung says MUST BE POSTDATED BY JAN.29'05 !((SCREAMING NOW))So, Ive come here to share in everyone elses grief with these people and to HOPEFULLY warn others to simply NOT waste your time ! Ive also pulled the BBB complaints on them, copied them all, copied all email correspondance and am fixing to do more research.(Find Corp fat rat names and addresses and phone numbers and bug the PISS out of every last one of them!!
AH, venting IS nice !!

not a real scam

#3UPDATE Employee

Look, this website is filled with all sorts of scams. There are so many to look through and so many we all need to be awhere of. This, however, is not a scam. I am an employee and long time customer. My family and friends have all recieved the rebates they've requested in the past. This is actually a really great deal.
Its possible you got someone new on the phone originally when they told you that ordering FastAccessDSL lite ( which is only 256k) would qualify you for the rebates. Intially setting up with a 1.5M connection (which is def. noticably diff. from "lite" which isnt even 1 meg, let alone 1 1/2) or higher ( 3.0M- 6M) would have made you eligable for all that you wanted to begin with, obvioulsy. Its also possible that you heard wrong. like you said, thats not how you understood it.

And dont act like youve never made a mistake.

If Bellsouth was pulling a REAL scam, they would have said...sorry, you f'ed up. no refunds. no rebate. no help what so ever. You would have lost your one chance...but the fact is they did at least attempt to help.

here it is...

1. either you didnt listen correctly (or pay attention to the commercials.)
or
the woman helping you who made an honest mistake with the DSL originally.
2. You failed to read the obvious instructions with your order. ( i have all that you can have through Bellsouth.) I had no assistance internally, nor did i have any prior knowledge of what to do before recieving my shippment and I did fine)
3. You are trying to slam a company that is still providing service to you.
4. On either end, mistakes were made. You could have stated that Bellsouth made some annoying mistakes. You could have done this and tried to act like you didnt make any yourself. Instead your online making false acusations.

Please stop wasting time with false or missleading rants. Just because honest mistakes were made and your upset, doesnt mean its a scam/rip-off.

Thank you for choosing Bellsouth.

I am a bellsouth customer.
When I purchased my DSL I got the rebate they promised.

I think it was 50usd at the time.
Then when I got the answers bundle I got an additional promised 100usd.

About a month ago they sent me a 110usd check out of the blue that had a letter saying that it was unsent rebates. which I ke[pt just in case.

I regret that you had so much trouble with the company.

Of course the telecom bill is a bit high for my tastes but compared to other newer companies our family has gotten solid service for years from Bellsouth.

Long call times are the usual issue for me.
