OK guys, you obviously all think Cingular is horrible, and trust me I do understand. I work for cingular, no I don't make commission so I am not a dealer and I don't get your money. Now let me get to my point... Cingular does offer things, and they do help you out more than any cell phone company I have ever been with.
If you are still reading, here are some tips... First off, if you dont get what you want the first time, shrug it off and call back...I am being serious, if you get someone that is rude, doesn't know what they are talking about, or just won't give you the freakin credit...CALL BACK...Tips: If there is a promotion going on, you just signed up for text messaging or internet, or anything and you went way over and got overage fees, say that some person told you that you were supposed to be on a higher package (cheaper than overage) or for instance here is an example that worked for me.. My boyfriend went over on texts about 80 dollars, the person wouldnt take the charges off for him...so i called in knowing how everything works and said that i was his wife and we were told that we were on the 3 months unlimited for 2.99 a month, she immediately took the charges off.
Also, if you go over your minutes, WE CAN DO RERATES!! Just get the right CSR. If you have an extremely high bill due to overage ask if you switch your pp to a different pp if they would credit your account for the overage.
Also, keep in mind that a CSR has a credit limit of $175 per account. Managers have a $400 dollar credit per account. If it is over this we do what is called a rerate. Which I know for a fact US cellular doesnt do!! (first hand experience) Depending on the amount of the rerate will be the approximate time of when you get the credit back to your account. Also, in the mean time they DONT HAVE TO TURN YOUR PHONE OFF!! If there is a pending rerate we have payment services, or better known as collections, all you have to do is tell them you have a pending rerate and they will keep your phone on for you.
Just remember if you are mad and yelling and screaming at the CSR they tend to not do as much for you, just act nice and professional about things and they tend to give you what you want. Cingular is the only cell phone company that I know of that gives re-rates, gives credits back, and actually has some great CSR's. I didnt say all, but if you get me you will find some good in Cingular. Cingular doesnt try and take your money, they dont try and scam you...DEALERS DO! Go to a CINGULAR OWNED STORE...they arent off of commission, and if anyone ever tells you that they can waive your activation fee they are lying unless it comes out of their commission, CSR's cant waive activation fees. Nor can we waive Early cancellation fees unless it is buyers remorse or never install which means never activated. Managers can't waive these either, unless you have a flyer that says the activation fee is waived it doesnt happen.
We can however waive late fees, upgrade fees, overage, prorated or partial bills, basically anything..just give cingular the chance...and keep calling back...I DO! :-)

unfair to categorize alldealers as theives.

I work for a cingular dealer in Berkley Mi, and I think it is unfair to categorize alldealers as theives. Each dealer chooses how to treat his customers, and if i tell you i can get an activation fee waived, i will get it waived. i think dealers are more likely to help you get what you want because they get ripped off by cingular too! You should see what our reports look like for the commission we get from them. i investigate about 50 unpaid commissions a month, so i understand much better how frustrating it is to get incorrect bills or information.

Removing upgrade fees?????

#7Consumer Comment

Carrie:
Did I read that correctly, that upgrade fees can be removed? I upgraded to NGAIT....because of the outerlying area in which I live. I was charged a UNDISCLOSED upgrade fee. I have called to have it removed, and received smart assed remarks. Tell me HOW to get it removed. My phone bill is high enough anyway. I have been a faithful customer for about 4 years.....now this! Had I known the upgrade was so expensive.........that could have paid for a LOT of extra minutes on my original plan. I'm MAD to say the least. Now it will be a whole lot easier for me to look at other plans.

if so call in and see if the rerate notes are on the account, if they arent on the account (and the rep will know this) than there was never a rerate filed...I work there and know how the system works...so if you need anysuggestions just let me know...i am not on here everyday...but i will get back with you eventually. :-)
