We have been loyal customers to Cingular Wireless for approx. 5 years, never being late, never really had any problems that have not been resolved. Now starting in July 2004 our experiences took a turn for the worst.

So the first month the bill jumped from around $150.00 or so to $457.00. Ok I had a feeling the bill was wrong but I didn't look into it too deep. So reluctantly I paid it. So we decided to cut down our phone usage to only important calls just in case it was our fault. Well the next months bill rolled around and it went down to about $390 dollars or so.

Thats when I started to get suspicious. I looked into the bill to see if I could spot any mistakes. Thats when I noticed that one phone call would show up twice and take twice as many minutes. Ok I call Cingular to tell them what I just discovered. They told me thats just how they do their billing and it's nothing to worry about. OK. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt one more time. Again we limited the usage of our phone calls.

The next bill came and the same thing. This happened for 4 months straight. First Cingular started to charge us for mobile to mobile calls, which according to our plan was unlimited. Then they started charging us for roaming when we have a nation wide plan, not only that but we didn't go anywhere that we hadn't in the previous years.

A Cingular employee informed me that it was a common problem with the merging networks of Cingular and ATT and it was happening because I had an old plan that the computer didn't recognize or something to that effect. Cingular was so kind to credit a portion of the bill back to me, all while saying they cleared their mistakes, But I refuse to pay the money I don't owe. I have been paying the monthly payments each and every month hoping that someone would have exposed Cingulars mistakes by now. But Cingular still is not willing to own up to there mistakes.

From what I understand this is happening to other customers. And well from my perspective we need to step up and say something. We are in the process of trying to find legal help. If this is happening as often as I think it is, then Cingular is a short time away from a class action suit. Please if anyone else is experiencing similar problems please contact me and let me know.

Christopher,

I would suggest that you call customer service at 1-800-331-0500 and explain to them an error was made on your account.

If you were on the GSM NATION plan that has no roaming, longdistance, and unlimited mobile to mobile during the four months you were overcharged, then your account should be fully credited for any Mobile to Mobile and Roaming charges.

I would ask the customer service rep. to review your account and issue a full credit due to the fact that it was a system error that caused the error. If the error is a system issue or Cingular's fault then you will get 100% credit for the errors.

If the overage was not caused by the system then you get a one time credit of 1/2 the amount.
