I have never worked for a more horrible company in my life!  I was hired at a Circle K in Bartlett/Memphis TN!  I had injured myself and went to a local hospital and they told me to take 3 days off. I reported to the manager over me (I was a assistant manager) , and she removed me from the schedule for three days.

It was all fine and dandy for two days.  But that third day..... My manager Kathy, called and asked me to meet with her at another gas station on HWY 64! So I did.... I thought it was about a promotion but it was not.  The district manager, Bobby (Concran I think was his last name), Said " Well, you put on your application that you worked at such and such company when you were 14.  We need tax returns. You are suspended until we receive your tax returns from when you were 14 or you are fired!  He told me that I wanted too much for someone my age, BLah blah blah."

Foolishly, I sent to the IRS for tax returns! Thinking back on it... What 14 year old files tax returns, seriously?  So they faxed the tax returns over and I called my job to tell them i had them.  So we set a date to meet.

Well.... when we met, I gave Bobby the tax returns from when I was 14 until the present! The proof that I had worked there was on every years tax return.  Then he said, "Well, you had another name that you didn't tell us about on your application.  That's falsifying company documents.  Plus for your age, you want too much anyway!"  YOU ARE FIRED AS OF RIGHT NOW!!!!!

WOWOWOWOWOWOW!

WOW!!!

That's all I could say!

I filed for unemployment and was denied!  Circle K appealed and appealed for me not to get unemployment!  I had done nothing wrong so of course I APPEALED AND APPEALED TOO!  We could appeal no more! We got to the last option : The highest decision maker to determine if my benefits would continue to be denied.  They did not even show up can you believe that!  So anyway, The boss man who had taken our case reviewed the facts and evidence etc.  And he concluded I had done nothing wrong.  They had no right to force me to submit tax returns.  The had no right to fire me!  My benefits were approved immediately and I went on with my life.

This was the most absurd situation I had ever been in!  And what makes it so bad is that I called The MAn who is almost entirely over Circle K, Larry Fitzpatrick or something of the sort and he told me to sue or whatever the hell I wanted to do!!! Really?  I'm still in disbelief to this very day!  I was the best worker they EVER had!  Shame ... Shame... SHAME!

So, They ended up paying me a large sum from the time they fired me without cause until my benefits were approved!

These companies need JUSTICE!

I'm pretty sure that they weren't asking for tax returns specifically. Apparently, either now or years ago, you used a different name and you didn't tell your employer about it. Your standard job application has a spot where you can fill in any name changes over the years and you obviously didn't fill that in (for whatever reason).

Sorry, but you were trying to pull a fast one and someone/something tipped them off and you got busted. Quit trying to play the victim.
