I wanted to warn people about the City Advantage plan that I purchased with my new 51 inch tv from Circuit City. It has been over 5 weeks and counting with my tv not getting repaired. This is the 5th time today I have been transferred to other people on the phone with nobody resolving my issues. They never call me back when they say they will. The technician who was just at my house (2nd time someone had to come out, would have been 3rd but the tech quit and we had to re-schedule) said that the technician that was there before (who quit) ordered the wrong part for my tv. He also told me that it was the 3rd wrong part that was ordered for that day so obviously, this technician knew he was quitting and ordered the wrong parts for everyone.

It took over a week to get someone to come out the first time just to order the wrong part. The new technician also told me he called and they had the correct part in stock and it would be in his hands on Friday (this was last Wednesday that he was at my house). Of course, I never heard back. I never do. I have been calling the number they give on the receipt just to talk with a person in another country who doesnt care and who says they'll call me back but they dont. So Friday night after I havent heard back from anyone, I called getting transferred over and over to other departments just to end up at the same one I originally started with. They said that the part was on back order now and it would be 7 to 10 days before it comes in and that they would call me on Saturday to talk about it and if they didnt (because we told them they never call back) to call the corporate office about it.

They didnt call back again! So that brings me to today. I called them again and got the usual run around and they told me again, 7 to 10 days. I asked them what happened with the technician saying last week that they had it in stock in California?? They couldnt answer that one. They just said that they are going to call me back again when the part comes in(ha, I wont hold my breath). So now it is going to be over 6 weeks of this tv being broke with me waiting for a part again. Will it be the correct one? Who knows. And I will wait longer than 6 weeks because I'll have to wait to schedule the appointment with the tech that usually takes another week. This will be 3 days (probably more) with missing work waiting on this tv with this "insurance" that I purchased.

I even went up to the store where I originally bought it and spoke with the manager. He pulled my ticket number and said he saw the list of problems that we are having but he couldnt do anything about it because after 30 days of purchase, it is out of his hands. He wanted us to call him and let him know what happens though. How thoughtful. He actually was nice and said that it happens all the time. So if you buy this extended insurance, you know what you get to look forward to! People who give you the run around constantly, never call back when they say they will, and weeks and weeks of your product not working.

Wednesday, my fiance actually got a call back from the technician saying he'll be there after 3pm on Thursday to fix the tv. It really sucks that it had to take that long to get the tv fixed but now, thank God, it is working! He even took the time to adjust the picture for us (which my brother said it took about 30 - 45 mintues). I think that if we would have originally had that tech, we would have had the problem fixed a lot sooner. I want to thank the manager at the Orland Park Circuit City for helping us out and giving us the district manager's number. We never received a call back from him (district manger) but my fiance has left many messages so I think that probably got to him. Or if the email was actually sent to the mangers in California by Felicia the supervisor I spoke to earlier this week. I guess I'll never know. I hope I never have to have this experience again.

I dont think anyone has to be psychic to figure out that Circuit City people never called me back yesterday. I just got off the phone with Bosco or Wosco or whatever the hell his name was only to be transferred over to Mary and then transferred over to Felicia. The first 2 people were pointless to even speak to. They would ask me why Im calling and I told them pull up my claim number and I want them to tell me what my problem was.

And of course, nothing they could do about it. I asked Mary to give me her supervisor which brought me to Felicia. She seemed helpful so lets hope something happens there. That will be a shock but as I said before, I will not hold my breath.

She is going to email the parts and services managers in California and tell them of how they never call me back and find out what happened to the part that was "in stock" suddenly turned into a back order of 7 to 10 days. So again, I'll be getting a "call back" from them and from her.

She did give me her direct number though so Im sure I'll be giving her a call tomorrow. Lucky me!
