Complaint Review: Circuit City

On 12/20/2003 i bought a portable DVD player for my daughter for Xmas. Well, last week, the hinge poped and a spring came out. I went in to C.C today, spoke with an associate and was told that they no longer carry the item and that If I had all the cables that came with it, they would replace it with a comprable item. Great!!

I went home, had dinner and returned to the store 4 hours later. In the interim, a shift change happened at the store. Well, heres where the fun begins. I explain to the new associate, that I was there several hours ago and am returning with all the included items.

Well, she looks at the item and asks, whats wrong with it. I said it doesnt play. She says, Well it looks abused. I said no, the plastic split on the side that has the spring in it, from normal use, and furthermore, when I bought the warranty, I was told it was covered if it fell or dropped, things of that nature.

She looks up the ticket number and says you dont have "THAT" plan, you just have a regular plan. I asked for the manager. He said the item was obviously abused and "they" wont take it back. I said, Ill pay the 39 dollars and send it to service, He said "no".. In 2003, they didnt have a 2 tiered service plan!!!!

After about 5 minutes of argueing, I left, otherwise, Id be in jail. This Holiday season, Stay away from these bastards and for gods sake, NEVER buy an extended warranty. Basically, the attitude I recieved tonight was uncalled for and seemed racially motivated, just by the look on their faces,the manager was smiling when he saw I was getting agitated, and no, I am not colored, or a foreigner
