CIRCUIT CITY BLACKMAIL *REBUTTAL from a fool
ON SEPT.8, 2000 I PURCHASED A HP COMPUTER WHICH WAS DEFECTIVE. ON SEPT.11 I RETURNED IT TO THE STORE AS INSTRUCTED BY THE HP HELP LINE. THEY DID NOT HAVE ANOTHER IN STOCK AND THE FLOOR MODEL WAS BROKEN.
THE MANAGER TRIED TO PRESSURE ME INTO ALLOWING THEM TO HAVE ONE SHIPPED TO MY DOOR. I POLITELY DECLINED. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME TO RETURN THE MOUSE AND KEYBOARD, WHICH I HAD LEFT AT HOME, FOR A REFUND. NO MENTION OF A PENALTY WAS MADE. THE NEXT DAY I RETURNED TO THE STORE.
I WAS TOLD THAT I MUST ALLOW THEM TO FIND A REASONABLE SUBSTITUTE OR A 15% OPEN BOX FEE MUST BE CHARGED. I REFUSED TO LEAVE THE STORE WITHOUT SPEAKING TO SOMEONE HIGHER UP IN MANAGEMENT ABOUT THE MATTER.
THE TWIT TOLD ME HE WAS THE MANAGER AND THAT HE WAS NOT ABOUT TO GIVE ME A FULL REFUND ON THE $1500.00 ITEM. HE THEN CALLED AN 800 NUMBER A HANDED ME THE PHONE.
AFTER MORE THAN 20 MINUTES ON HOLD I SPOKE WITH A WOMAN WHO ASSURED ME THAT THERE WOULD BE NO FULL REFUND ON MY JUNK COMPUTER. SHE TOLD ME TO PICK SOMETHING ELSE THAT WOULD BE TO MY LIKING.
AT THIS POINT I WAS SO ANGRY THAT I TOLD SEVERAL OTHER CUSTOMERS WHAT WAS GOING ON. I TOOK MY COMPUTER AND LEFT BEFORE I LOST ALL DIGNITY.
I AM GOING BACK TO THE STORE TOMORROW AND WILL MAKE THE SCENE I PROMISED IF I AM NOT GIVEN MY MONEY BACK.
DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU. I WONDER IF THERE IS ANYTHING I CAN DO TO REPAY THESE PEOPLE FOR MERCHANDISE LAUNDERING, DO THEY HAVE A LICENSE TO STEAL?.
TO BLACKMAIL PEOPLE INTO BUYING A REFUND ON MERCHANDISE THAT WILL BE RETURNED TO THE MANUFACTURER OR SOLD AS IS TO SOME OTHER SHMUCK.

CIRCUIT CITY BLACKMAIL (#3322)
CIRCUIT CITY (Computer Stores)
9/12/00 (Last Modified: 9/12/00)
They filed the following rebuttal to the above Rip-Off Report:
Their email: cc4502@aol.com
Their relationship to the company: Supporter
Rebuttal:
okay lady. on your receipt it states that a 15% restock fee will apply to computers that are opened. if the computer is defective they will allow you to get a computer for the original purchase price. that is more than fair. the reason they charge a restock fee is that computers change so rapidly. within a couple of weeks they will have a computer with more features and faster speed at a lower cost. so take the in store credit and stop crying!!!!!
EDITORS NOTE: 10-8-00
This consumer is so full of it. Circuit City knows dam well what they are doing here. Just read all the other reports on this web site and all over the Internet. Circuit City is known for this and many other unscrupulous tactics.
Look what this consumer was put through! She should get an extra 50%.
If she is taking a full refund immediately, she should get an extra 25% just for being dicked around!
I believe this Rebuttal is from the same devotee that has responded to other Circuit City Rip-off Reports. You have your work cut out for you, don't you.
