Complaint Review: Circuit City

Circuit City No Longer Reputable Anniston Alabama

I purchased a 40" TV at the Anniston, Alabama Circuit City store under a 12-month no interest/no payments offer. After 5 months, I decided to pay off the account which is managed by Chase Bank. I assumed all was well until I got a bill for $45 in finance charges the following month.

At first, the Chase agent tried the "your last payment was late" approach. When I proved otherwise (my last payment was 2 weeks early) via statements, she retreated and decided to argue that it was only a 90-day promotion. I would not have bothered with a 90-day promotion and in-fact passed on a $50 off coupon to take advantage of the flexible payment/no interest plan. Either the store keyed in the wrong promo (intentional or not)...or Chase (acting as an agent of Circuit City) is just simply dishonest.

Neither Chase nor Circuit City will so much as reply to my inquiries. This being the second time I have been ripped off by Circuit City ("lost" rebate submission the first time), I think I have finally learned my lesson. I would not advise anyone to buy ANYTHING FROM CIRCUIT CITY!!! In my opinion, the company we grew up with is no-more and is no longer reputable. Best Buy is usually right down the street, stands behind their offers (at least they have for me) and has decent customer service. I hear that Circuit City is considering bankruptcy anyway...I wonder why? - good riddence.

Financing is the banks responsibility.

Your receipt shows the financing that Circuit City and Chase were promoting at the time of purchase. If chase doesnt want to keep up to their end it does not reflect on Circuit City because they do not deal with financing that is all chase.
