On 11/11/04 I ordered a HP 78 Large Print Cartidge "Twin Pack", (C6654BN) for $54.99 from the Circuit City web site.

I tried to purchase this item from the Circuit City store in Medford, Oregon, but they did not carry it and the sales man looked it up on the website and agreed I should order it online and that it was a good deal for 2 cartridges.

When I received my order, there was only 1 cartridge in the package. I called Circuit City and was told it was a Web error and there was nothing they could do. I asked for their supervisor and Rachel said she would take care of it.

Not hearing back from them, I called again and after going to the India call center where they offered me a $5.00 gift card, which I refused, they transferred me to Gorden Bell in Richmond VA. Gordon said he would look into it and call me back. He never called back. I left several voice mails..and finally called my credit card company to dispute the charges.

MBNA my credit card company called today and we tried to resolve this dispute. We talked with Customer Service in India and then were tranferred to Gordon Bell again.

Gordon said it was a Misprint on the website and should have said it was twice the capacity print cartridge not a twin pack. When we asked him to honor what the website stated as a "Twin Pack" he said Circuit City was not going to do anything about their error.

MBNA, who by the way has excellent customer service said they would credit me 1/2 of my purchase price for my order and drop the whole dispute, as they wanted me to be happy.

I just think it is wrong for a company to advertise a product on their website as a "Twin Pack" and then refuse to honor what they said I was ordering. My receipt clearly says that I ordered a HP78 Large print cartridge "Twin Pack".

For $27.49 which is 1/2 of my purchase price, they have lost me and my family and friends as customers of Circuit City forever. You wouldn't think that the CEO of Circuit City would be happy about this. I think I will write him a letter as well.

Beware of Circuit City's web site descriptions. If it sounds like too good of a deal... it's probably a mistake....and you would heed not to order it as my experience has shown that Circuit City will not honor their mistakes.

First of all, I would like to apologise on behalf of Circuit City. If the associate would have known about the product you had bought, he would have realized that the C6654BN ink cartridge is a High Capicity cartridge, and the net sell price for that item is always $54.99, and that a twin pack of the high capicity C6654BN catridge would be considerably more expensive.

Now, it is customers like you that make me sick, and make working retail hell. Yes you paid a lot for the cartridge (The standard cartridge sells for about $30, but the high capicity cartridge wich you purchased has over twice the amount of ink in it for less than twice the cost!!!

And yes there is no such thing as a free lunch, if it looks too good to be true it probably is, so next time do your homework before you buy somthing.
