Citicorp Trust Bank payoff quote ripoff Irving Texas
My problems started with this company with the first loan payment I ever made to them since taking out what was supposed to be a mortgage (Smart Loan). Needless to say this is anything but a mortgage, or smart.
Imagine my surprise when I was told that I owed an additional $2,500 for the home insurance that they claim to have been paying for the last 2 years. Citicorp claims they were informed that our insurance had lapsed but they were unable to provide me with any documentation to verify their information. I faxed, on three different occasions, proof that I had home owners and that it has been in good standing but they stand that they have been paying and that I am responsible for reimburseing them.
November 2005 a direct debit from my checking account was returned to them and three months later we were contacted by Citicorp regarding the overdraft and informed that they have not attempted to withdraw from the account since November making me three months late on my account. In an effort to get away from this company we started working on a refinance with a different mortage company. When I informed them I was in the process of refinacing I was told that they would not release any information to the other company. Low and behold, I was asked by the other lender to contact Citicorp for a payoff letter because they were having a problem getting it from them. I received the letter in a timely fassion and fowarded it to the lender.
I then had a very unpleasant conversation with a manger named Edgar Martinez, at extension 17063, and explained my situation and I was told that he would contact me at the end of the month for an update. A week later he called me at 6:30am stating I told him I would call him by the end of the week and he was going to send me a letter of default.
Citicorp received the pay off check last week. I received a call from Citicorp on Saturday stateing that they were not accepting the payoff because I sent them a bad check in March. I explained my situation to the rep who transfered me to Tony Stewart, his manager. Tony informed me that I need to stop sending them hot checks and that I had till Monday to settle the account. I finally had to disconnect with Tony and call back. I was fortunate enough to get James, the rep who called me earlier, James was able to tell me that the charge was actually from last year and that it was added in five days after I was sent the pay off letter but he was unable to provide me with any documentation to show the outstanding balance.
I have spent hours on the phone with Citicorp since taking out this loan. During that time I have been threatened, given wrong information, belitteled and badgered by this company. I have never been able to get any resolution other then I owe them more money. How much longer will this company be able to strong arm and practice their loan sharking?
