This advice is just common sense and I do not think Ms. Wall is qualified for her position.  If she was at Arkansas State University  she would have been fired or suspended without pay but now.   First of all:   Interviews needs to be set up to at  least to give people time to arrange their schedules.  Why was she emailing people on Saturday  for the initial interview?  This makes no sense, even if she is a consultant- she still represents the school in her emails.   The damage is already done and I will notify your Accreditation  agency of faux pas.   This is just so unacceptable.  She is an human resource professional and is SPHR - Senior Professional in Human Resources.  I will notify this agency of her mistake.       brian chamberlain   2:21 AM (11 hours ago)   FYI I am seeking legal advice to sue the college and Ms. Wall for the pre paid travel expenses that I had to paid out of pocket plus Compensatory damages since   brian chamberlain <drbrian1165@gmail.com> 5:21 AM (8 hours ago)     to Dianna       i just think that if Ms. Wall called a HR administrator at your college about the situation, I think that I could tell them about the more serious problem of what happened.  I want the search committee to be well aware of what Ms. Wall did.   I also think that as Vice chancellor of Human Resources that some one would have already thought about calling people before emailing a person on Saturday about a job interview that was to take place on Tuesday and why was Ms. Wall in charge of emailing people on a Saturday?  Whom made this decision that people should be emailed on a Saturday and Sunday to finalize an interview that was to take place on Tuesday.  I think Ms. Wall should have notified you of this sticky situation at once and then you or someone else could have solved the problem.   Why didn't HR call people themselves on Friday?  I am not sure why or whom made the decision not to call people on Friday or sooner, since in my 32 years in higher education administration, I know that interview scheduling takes time and the date and time for interviews would be set either by Thursday or Friday at the outset so that people could be notified and re arrange their schedule as needed.   I ask would you want to be notified on something on a Monday night for something that you need to plan and travel for on a Tuesday.   This whole situation did not set well with me when I received her email on Saturday because you need to give people  time to call their employers to get time off and re arranged their schedule to deal with the new appointment.

How dare Ms. Wall tell me how I should react in any given situation.   I can react to any situation that I please.   Ms. Wall does not know me and I know my feeling and how to react to a situation and this was appropriate.  Ms. Wall is lazy.  The emails were orginals as Ms. Wall is very well aware of since she and her bosses received them. 

I am a very busy person as I deal with 57,000 students, 60 staff members, 2 supervsiors, a College President, the Board of Directors, the state and most of all the taxpayers. I receive over 10,000 emails and over 500 calls a day and yes, I do not want to deal with many emails on the weekend.   I only read the emails that are urgent and need my attention. 

 But unlike Ms. Wall, if people have an urgent matter they will call me and I can deal with the situation because most people carry phone and really do not read and response to emails during the weekemd.  Ms. Wall claims that she is an independent contractor and has different business hours that I do, well my suggestion to her is that she should work around most schedules that are Monday through Friday from 9 to 5.

   I beleive that everyone is very valuable and highly regarding in the higher education community.   I do regard myself and a very vaulable assest to any higher education institution because I work on behalf of students, the public and the taxpayers.    I have received the valuable employee 10 years straight, that is like winning the oscar award 10 years in a row.

   I do know that I can easily be replaced as there are many people in the financial aid community that do a great job every year.   I am an assest to any college becuase I work very hard for the students because I was a  first year, first generation student dealing with a financial aid office that never really cared or communicated with me.   

I  wanted to make sure that when I worked for a college that I really worked on behalf of the students.   The students are my reason to go to work and stay in the higher education for 32 years.   I like to see student go from a freshman to  a senior and invite me to their graduation.   The students have always given me a 95 percent or higher approval rating and yes I received more emails and phone calls that  President of the college. 

 I receive so emails and phone calls from students because I do response to their needs and their situatons.   So Ms. Wall you are a lazy, crude and rude  indepedent human resource personnel.    Please in the future keep you uneducated, ill advised opions to yourself.   Please do not attack my character or reactions without some knowledge and background of the person. 

I vaule myself and any reading this should.   Everyone has a value and has something to contribute to scoiety and the conversation.   I do like to plan because my job requires me to plan things.  First of all, Ms. Wall should not have emails me on a Saturday afternoon about a potential job inteview and then finalized the plans on a Monday night at 7 pm for a 3:15 pm Tuesday meeting. 

In order to make this meeting, I need to travel and inform my staff and boss that I will be gone for the day.  I also need to reschuele any meeting and yes work around other peoples schedule in order to make this happen.   This is a foreign concept to Ms Wall.   I would have called people on a Friday even if it was in the evening and explained to them that I know this is short notice but you are invited to an interview and this is the date, time and place for the meeting- Can you come, if so I will email you the parking permit, the job description, people on the interview commitee and a map.   Ms Wall did none of that .   She did the bare essential- just eneough to get by and is this what City College of San Fran is teaching their student.

I want the people reading this to judge if I overacted or not and I want the people reading this to judge Ms.Wall's character because that is what it reallly all about.   I can not tell the reader how to react because that is not my job or my reason to vent.  My reason was to inform the reader on my experience, how it happened and how I felt during the process.   Ms. Wall should not tell my how I should have reacted because she is not in my footsteps.   I am just informing people to be aware of Ms. Wall if you want to hire in the future.   This is my employee evaulation of her based on my experience.  And yes, I was upset and mad that I shelled out some money for prepaid travel expenses that i know have to write off as a life lesson.

I think you over react to the situation. At the same time, it seems that you highly value yourself which is not wrong but could be inappropriate in many situations.

If what you posted in your original report is actually the content in your email sending to the person, then there is no case here. The wording in the email is also all opinions (with the word "I think"). You are entitled to whatever you think, but that doesn't mean it is the rules or laws. You can attempt to file a law suit, but I highly doubt that it will go through or there would be any lawyer who would take your case. There doesn't seem to be any legal ground here.

It seems that you are a very busy person who is not in hurry to find a job. If you are not really interested in the job, then it would be better to let the job go to someone else who really nreeds it. I hope you could find a job that fit your own schedule. Good luck.

By the way, I'm just a reader on this site. Thanks for your entertaining post (but not a real report).
