I consider Topeka, Kansas a horrible place to live because of the way the city treats its citizens.

Our Federal Constitution requires everyone to be treated equal. I have tried for years to get the City of Topeka Code Compliance Department to do this.

This department sends out an extraordinary amount of letters (My understanding is more per capita than other cities).

These letters go primarily to the poor and lower income areas of town. They give out so many days to "comply". The amount of days is not equal for everyone.

Our Federal Constitution says laws should be applied equally but the City of Topeka refuses to do that. They have also broken into houses to do inspections, which too is against our Constitution.

Another huge problem is that Topeka has a lot of crime, especially property crime. What happens is that people get their homes vandalized and instead of the vandal being arrested and charged, the property owner is cited for being a "code violator" and threatened with jail and fines if they don't have the money or means to immediately fix it within the short time frame.

Yet the city has a main bridge that is in such bad repair
that it is restricted. Not all streets are in great shape either. So the property owner is expected to be perfect yet the city has another set of standards for them.

Anonymous for fear of retaliation
