CL Barnes Furniture Broken Furniture and won't refund money White Plains Maryland
I order a bedroom suite on October 10, 2004. I received this furniture on December 2nd, 2004 and when it was received the bed was broken. The delivery guys hit my mailbox and broke it and also scrap my wall putting in the dresser. I did receive compensation for this by the delivery service that CL Barnes uses.
I contacted the store and they said that they do not handle claims that I would have to call a Ms. Gail Claimer or Krammer at 703-369-5037 ext. 2. I left her numerous voice mails on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th of December.
Finally on December 6th she returned my call and said that she would be sending out a technician to look at the bed on December 7th. He arrived around 1:30 pm and said that he did not have the parts to fix the bed and that the delivery guys put the wrong bolts on the bed. He said I would have to order the bolts to fix the bed. I called Gail at 3:05 and left message about bed and that the parts need to be ordered. She called around 4:30 at my home and talked to my mom.
I called Gail on December 17th when the parts arrived at around 10:00am and again at 1:00pm to set up an appointment for the technician to come back to fix the bed.
She called on December 20th and talked with my mom. She said that she was sending out the delivery people again because they should be able to fix the bed. The delivery people were to be out on December 22nd in the morning. They showed up didn't speak any English and said the bed was broke and left.
I called Gail at least 3 times on December 22nd and again on December 23rd. She finally returned my call on December 24th around 8:45am. I asked for my money back and the furniture to be picked up and she said that is not their policy that they will fix the bed one way or the other. I told her I did not want my bed jimmy rigged and that I just wanted my money back after all this time. She said that she needed to send the technician out to take pictures and write a report then they would decide what to do. I said that it was to late for that and wanted my money back.
Well it is December 28th and I still have broken furniture and no money. After this long I just want them to come get the furniture because I will not allow them to jimmy rig a $2,000 bed to make compensation for all this time. I would not recommend this company to anyone who is looking to buy furniture. They take your money and give you crap for furniture.
I think a company that has to order all their furniture for people and charge an arm and a leg would think more about their customers then the money. But I guess when they make almost $4,000 on a bedroom suite that is broken is more important.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I am still fighting the company to get my situation resolved. My attorney sent one last letter to the President of the company to have him honor his agreement of picking up the broken bed and giving me my money back. This letter was sent out on April 4th and as of Friday April 29th my attorney has heard nothing. I am hoping to find a resolution to this problem by the end of this since it will be 5 months on May 3rd I have had this broken bed in my home. Which means I have not been able to use my bedroom. I hope some of the others on this page got what they were asking for and got reimbursed for their damages. I can only hope that this company will honor their agreement of reimbursing me for the damages their company has caused.

After reading the rebuttal from Lisa in Springfield, she does not have her facts straight. First of all the hardware that came with the bed was the right one but did not have all the pieces. The delivery people put the wrong hardware in the bed which then broke the bed by stripping the holes. They did order new hardware but by then the holes were ruined.
They did not offer to replace the bed until I contacted the manufacture about there methods of jimmy rigging the bed to work with bigger hardware of putty to make the holes work. After I got an attorney did they offer to refund my money and take the furniture back. But that is still a nightmare. As of today they are only trying to take the bed and not all the furniture. I don't want anything from this company.
To the attorney who is having the same problem as me I would like to talk to you about what you are doing. At this time my attorney is not making me happy but I will see what happens when he calls me back. At this point I have had this bedroom furniture over two months in my house unusable and I have had my clothes all over the house because I can not store it.
Thank You,
Lisa

The bed Ms. Parks refers to was received from the manufacturer with incorrect hardware, a fact which was only recognized after the furniture was in the home. We ordered a new bed from the manufacturer and attempted to set up delivery, but Ms. Parks refused. We are now scheduled to pick up the bed and give Ms. Parks a refund. We have tried to faithfully follow the terms and conditions on the sales contract the customer signed. Per those terms and conditions, special order merchandise is not returnable; we have made an exception in this case.
