Complaint Review: CLAYTON HOMES

I purchased a modular home in 2007 that was a Clayton Home.  After much brew ha ha in the beginning, the Company did step up to the plate when it comes to service.

However, the quality of these homes is horrid.  I was under the impression I was purchasing a modular home.  Instead, and thanks to legislation, they are able to pass off Double Wides as Modular Homes.

The home scrapes the bottom of barrel when it comes to quality.  Actually, I think the scraped under the barrel.  The interior doors are COMPLETELY hollow and 3 inches too short!  I literally can roll a tennis ball under them.

The kitchen cabinets do not meet industry standards, and after kicking and screaming, they did replace of the cabinets.  The faucets are the lowest of quality.  The shower plate cover come right off it's screws.  The garden tub faucet swivels - somehow I just don't think its supposed to do that!

The storm door has 1/2 gaps which allows cold or hot air to seep in.  The exterior light fixtures have rusted (and this is the second set of fixtures)

The insulation is less than suitable and the closets are either freezing or hot!!

Thou it is not Claytons fault, I ended up with water coming into my house due to nail holes in the roof (these were to have been patched by the Contractor - oh that's another story - from where they remove the protective plastic) but now since the wallboards have been damaged, I can't get replacements and their suggest was to paint it or replace it with sheet rock...Okay, at WHOS expense??? Obviously mine!!

It' has been such a disappointment..

In the end, their customer service manager went up and beyond the call of duty and for that I'm greatful, very greatful.  But unfortunately, it doesn't rectify the problem with the overall quality and workmanship of the home.

And if you can set it as a double wide, then it's a double wide!!  There's no modular to it!  PERIOD!

Invest in the real thing..You will be much happier!
