Clayton Nelson Photography not the Bucks County Photoshoot I was paying for... Hanover, Pennsylvania
I contacted Clayton to do a photoshoot to update my portfolio. I found him on Facebook through friends. He told me he had a studio he owned in soho and a country home in Bucks county PA. I spoke to several agents and they loved the idea of shooting Ralph Lauren style images in Bucks county. I told my agent what he told me; "he shoots for J Crew, Kands End, Eddie Bauer, Ralph Lauren, Nautica, etc". I agreed to his $500 price and booked a ticket to Philly (where my family is). When arrived he gave me an address. It was 5 hours from bucks county! NOT in the county, almost out of state! I drove all that way and the country house was a dingey room on the 3rd story of a run down building atop a condemned Mexican restaurant. I felt like I was walking into the silence of the lambs! Rats everywhere, roaches...and this huge man seemed out of it and on something?!? I called my husband as soon as I pulled up! He then refused to even look at my 2 garment bags and suitcase of clothes, claiming I had bad taste.I had purchased $1500 in clothes at j crew to shoot as he had claim j crew was a client. but he would not even look. YET he said we would hit the Hanover walmart and shop for
new clothes! And I have bad taste? I refused. At this point started his berating, harassing, abusive attitude. He called me names. Said I was old, fat, had a double chin the whole day. He shot me straddling rusty farm equipment and insisted this was what his client "j crew" was shooting. He told me the whole shoot I had a double chin and when I asked to see an image on the camera, he refused. There was none. I complained to his sweet make up artist and she begged me to not complain. Said he had "mental issues, was autistic", etc. She also said he owed her 2 years rent for the room atop the condemned mexican restaraunt and needed the money from the shoot to prevent eviction. CRAZY TOWN! A hell day! So I complained to him about his misrepresentation and he has threatened to blacklist me. Whatever! I would sue him if he had a penny! LOL he has no car, no home and no clients. I was taken! His response has been predictable...name calling, slanderous comments about my professionalism, attacks on my appearance. All capital letter emails & texts raging on like a crazy person! So it shows you what kind of person he is. I took the same "bad taste " wardrobe and shot amazing images with a true pro. In spite of his "blacklist" I have never been busier. Truly no one in the business knows who he is and those who do; know he is truly a phony. Hoping other models save themselves the stress and money!

Is that I ever agreed to work with this individual. She represented herself as a "working model" out of Atlanta, 42 years of age. Upon meeting her (she arrived three hours late), i took note that she looked OLD. Upon checking around, i discovered that she is actually in her early fifties. Her original backround is as a model in NYC in the late 70's - 90's. I contacted colleauges in NYC, all of whom knew who she was. One photographer to whom I spoke mentioned to me that he actually found it necessary to seek a temporary restraining order against Ursula due to harrassment, not unlike the type I am recieving here. I also came to find that she was pushy, arrogant, and generally sloppy in her approach. She brought along wardrobe for the shoot which was sloppy, and wrinkled. A client in Atlanta, Ga. with whom I am familar laughed when I mentioned her name, adding that they worked with her one time, ant that the single time that they worked with her was generally a "nightmare". As for "rats and roaches" in the studio... At least, I am grateful to Ms. Weidmann for bringing this to my attention. This is certainly the first that I, nor anyone has heard of this. However, coming from Ursula, I shall address that immediately. She was well known, apparently in New York during her time there, for being, as one agent described to me, "a huge headache". This agent went on to describe a litany of upset photographers, missed appointments and bookings, late arrivals, as well as a generally narcissistic approach to the business. It seems that she has pretty much exhausted her NYC contacts and rescources,"burning every bridge", so to speak. As one photographer in Atlants mentioned to me, "She is a nut case. The only mistake that you made here was to get involved with her in the first place.". As to whether or not this woman is a "nut case", I shall leave to the analisys of others. It is not my intent here to enter into a back and forth, juvinile type of "pissing contest" here, and I refuse to lower myself to that. This "event" occured more than two years ago, and it becomes evident thru this person's continual rants that she obviously has problems in letting go in certain situations, and getting on with her life. Were the pictures I took of my usual caliber? Decidedly not. She showed up (grandiously, may I add) three hours late. She was arguementative from the very moment that she arrived. The photographer in Atlanta described exactly the same behavior to me, telling me that he was subject to it all day. Sadly, I noted that she looked old, unkept, and probably past her time as a working model. My only regert is that I agreed to try to work with her at all. What I should have done was to have her send me live digital images beforehand (which, because of this incident, is a practice that I now employ 100% of the time). As previously stated, it is not my intent to enter into a back and forth, vis-a-vis exchange here, and I shall not demean myself by justifying her outlandish claims. Instead, I will allow to go unanswered any further ridiculous claims by this person. The juvenile tone of her text implies that she is not quite "right", and I will not demean myself by continuing on with dialouge in this forum. I only rebutted this post because I felt the need to number one, set the record straight, and, number two, alert other working photographers and clients who may have dealings with her to be aware that she is extremely contentious, arguementative, and flat out looks BAD. Upon making a few well placed phone calls, I found that she, for one reason or another, has been dropped from nearly every model agency she has worked with, and the complaining agents recalled having dropped her for similar reasons as the ones I list here. The very best thing about dealing with this person is actually not having to deal with her. I harbor no ill will here, but rather, am entering this rebuttal simply to set the record straight. I will respond no further to any of her childish rants. I demean myseld to begin with by having to answer to a somewhat unbalanced individual who cannot let go after two years.
