Climate Partners was called in to perform a routine maintenance service and punctured the coil in AC condenser; the hole was so large that the unit was completely drained of refrigerant within ten minutes rendering the AC unit inoperable.

The Climate Partners technician wouldn’t admit that he punctured the unit or caused any damage even though I was literally standing in the window watching him back away from the condenser when the white cloud of refrigerant started spewing into the air. The Climate Partners technician wrote on the invoice ticket that he “found large leak at bottom of condenser and recommends replacement due to age”.

The Climate Partners supervisor (who was not present at any point) also tried to cover up the damage by claiming that there was a year-old leak in the coil that spontaneously and coincidentally ruptured while the technician was servicing the unit.

The Climate Partners owner didn't call me back for five weeks and then claimed he only received one of my messages.

The Climate Partners owner finally responded to an email I sent noting that I had an AC professional thoroughly inspect the unit and that the AC professional confirmed that this was no leak but a ‘hole’ and that “the hole was not from wear or tear nor years of exposure to [the elements]." The hole was caused by something sharp or “likely caused by the screw that secures the condenser grille to the unit’s base frame…”. Shockingly, that screw was missing from the unit when the technician left.

The Climate Partners owner finally admitted that the technician pierced the condenser with a screw and would 1) issue a credit for the service call (i.e. not charge me for the call during which the technician punctured the condenser coil) and 2) issue a $681.87 credit toward future service or a replacement unit (i.e. the Climate Partners owner is suggesting I would consider using them again in the future and/or hire Climate Partners to replace the unit that Climate Partners intentionally or unintentionally broke and lied and deceived to cover up).

This Climate Partners service call will end up costing me well over $11k not to mention the time spent without AC during the hottest part of the summer and the time and aggravation spent figuring out how to correct the problem.  We went from have having an AC unit that worked great before and during a service call to having an AC unit that was completely inoperable and requiring replacement when the Climate Partners technician left.  We hired an AC contractor, Climate Partners, who we thought was honest, reliable and competent, and Climate Partners not only broke our AC unit but lied and deceived to cover it up.  It simply does not get worse than this.
