SLOAN CHEVROLET, JOSEPH VALORI, ALEX GOZMAN, MIKE COIA(GENERAL MANAGER) SLOANE SOLD ME A LEMON! GOT A CAR AND IT WAS IN THE SHOP 12 TIMES IN THE FIRST YEAR!! THEN CAR CAUGHT FIRE , THEY WONT FIX IT THEY WANT ME TO PAY!!! PHILADELPHIA Pennsylvania .....

I am writing in regard to a dangerous automobile problem I have been unable to resolve. I purchased a brand new 2000 Chevy Cavalier on March 25, 2000. Within the first 3 months of owning the car, I returned it to the dealership for 2 rebuilt transmissions. This issue placed me in a rental car for a total of approximately 3 weeks.

Not too long after these problems occurred, I had to return the car several more times to have new stereos installed. After all of this my car made sputtering noises and felt as if it would stall. This problem persisted so again, I returned it to the dealership. There, they replaced a spark plug and a wire. This problem persisted but not as often as before.

All these problems led up to my car being placed at the dealership for these issues as well as many others for a total of 12 times within the first year of ownership. Recently, my car caught on fire posing a great danger to myself as well as others .

I returned it to the dealership a couple of days ago and spoke to a salesman. He said SLOANE CHEVROLET would pay the last three payments on the leased vehicle and I would have to pay the damages. So in other words they are trying to buy me out of a lease. WHY?? I have made further attempts to contact the dealership and they will no longer get involved. Their response is only that I should then contact General Motors.

I have tried to contact someone about the Lemon Law and have gotten no where because it was not the same problem three times in a row, they were all different. All I want is to discard the problem car and purchase another car and have had nothing but problems. If there is any possible way someone could offer advice as to any higher person I can contact, it would be graciously appreciated. I feel as if my life has been put in jeopardy many times and I would like to resolve this matter as quickly as possible.

Why Is This The Dealer's Fault?

#2Consumer Comment

Why is this the dealer's fault? YOU bought the car. Did you ever happen to read any consumer or car magazine? They almost all say that Cavaliers are pieces of junk.

It sounds as if the dealer tried to make you happy even though they have absolutely NO fault here. You bought the car...they sold the car. Sure, you've had many problems, but is that the dealer's fault? Did they sabotage the car? I doubt it. Every time you brought it in for service, didn't the dealer work on your car?

They can't foresee into the future and know what problems may happen eventually. They can only fix what is broken at the time and that is exactly what they did. Who paid for the rental car? I bet the dealership did. Sounds like they are customer oriented to me. Plus, if you took it to other service places, the dealership cannot be responsible for work they did not do. If another place didn't fix the problem, don't blame the dealership.

You ask why they are trying to buy you out of a lease? Did you BUY it or LEASE it? Sounds like they really tried to keep you happy by paying the payments even though they had absolutely NO reason to other than make the customer happy. It is only fair that you pay for your own vehicle's damages!

I wouldn't talk to you anymore either, if I were them. Sounds like nothing they could do would make you happy! The dealer did not manufacture the car. Take it up with GM!
