We contacted this company to provide party items (helium tank for balloons, Chairs/Tables, etc.) for a kid's 1st birthday.

We dealt with a person named Michael Plana who represented this company by phone listed on their website as well as email. After going over the details, we were emailed an invoice in advance asking for deposit and we sent him a check per his instructions for full payment for the party rentals/setup.

On the day of the party, *no one* from this company showed up to deliver any party items. We tried to contact them numerous times by phone that morning when we expected the items to be delivered and no answer from their phone. No one even contacted us to give any status at all that day. We had a party with no tables, chairs, and the other party items promised: no Ice Cream Cart, no Dry Ice, and no Cotton Candy Cart.

The following monday, we tried calling them again to ask what had happened via email and phone but still no response. A few weeks ago I tried again to contact the phone number listed for this company and was surprised to finally talk to a person - Michael Williams who is supposedly the owner.

I asked him for a refund but have been unsuccessful after many repeated tries. He claims that it was his employee that ripped me off and not him or his company.

These clowns are not gonna have the last laugh! Please don't get ripped off the same way we did and hire someone else instead. Thanks for reading.

Dear upset consumer,

We appologize for the the inconvience and have terminated Michael Pana's affiliation with Clowning Around. We have been providing entertainment services since 1980.

Michael Pana worked for the company for a couple of months in 2005. Norman did not know I was out of town at the time as I did not know Michael Pana would be dishonest? It seems Michael Pana had Norman write a check out to himself, since Michael could not cash Clowning Around checks. As a consumer you should always write a check out to the Company you are dealing with. Never make a check out to an employee of a company, if you do there is no way for the company to find out what took place in the transaction.

I requested that Norman produce a copy of the invoice as well as his returned check to verify wheither Michael Pana had cashed it for the same amount. After a belated response from Norman, Clowning Around refunded his money.
