Club Sunterra, Diamond Resorts Worthless "vacation points" lead to crummy or no vacation North Las Vegas Nevada
We purchased our Club Sunterra timeshare points in the fall of 2005. Since the first year of ownership we have been unhappy with this company. In 2006 we tried to go back to our alleged "home resort". There was no availability for Club Sunterra members. We could have, however, paid to stay at our "home resort". So, in essence, there was no availability for Club Sunterra members, but there was availability for the general public, who would pay cash.
This same scenario has repeated every year ever since. The one time that our family actually got a reservation, it was an exchange for another time share company's property. When we got to the exchange resort, the amenities listed in the book were not available. The Sunterra rep who made the reservation knew this, but did not inform us.
We have tried to contact the original sales person, who sold us the points, in an effort to sell them or just get rid of them. We have contacted Club Sunterra/Diamond Resorts to find out how to unencumber ourselves. Unfortunately, I now know what hell is. It is an eternal membership in Club Sunterra.
The bottom line is this. We paid approximately $13,000 for our worthless Club Sunterra points. In essence, we paid $13,000 for the privilege of paying an additional $700+ per year in maintenance fees for points we can't use.
We weren't smart. Please learn from our mistake.

You sound like an employee at Diamond Resorts instead of a member. I have tried to sell my time share through them even and got no where. What do you feel a timeshare is worth that increases annual maintenance fees over 100% in 5 years?
What do you feel a timeshare is worth that charges you to make reservations even though you have paid through the nose to be a member?
What do you feel a timeshare is worth that ignores any complaints by the customer?
What do you feel a timeshare is worth that explains to you that if you do not come to VEGAS and attend the meetings then your voice does not matter (yep! I was told that!)
What do you feel a timeshare is worth that preys on the weak and disregards the plights of the elderly that purchased a time share for their retirement only to find that they cannot even afford the new maintenance fees let-alone be able to actually use properties.
What do you feel a timeshare is worth where your call goes straight to India and it takes an act of Congress just to speak to an actual representative that is affiliated with the actual company.
Come on sport, what do you feel a Diamond Resort timeshare is worth?

Do not sell your timeshare in a resale market. You just do not know how to use the product is all. Time share is very simple to use if you understand it, and will save you tons of money. If you do what that other tard did and sell it then yes you will lose ALL your money. We have owned 2 for years and use them worldwide. He didnt pay any marketing costs or anything. They buy them off of consumers for cheap prices and whole sale them to vacation companies. SO who is the bigger (not so smart) person? The person who doesnt know how to use what he owns (but can learn) or the guy who threw his money away at a resale company and then paid them to do it?
Call the company. Ask for more info. Next time your there ask to sit down and learn how to use it.
Be smart.
Play hard.
Resale companies are evil.

You can sell your timeshare on sellmytimeshare.com. I bought this timeshare for 2000 with 600 a year maintenance fees. That is what you should have paid. The company has a bad customer service department because every time I email them I don't get a response back for weeks. You wont get anywhere near 13 grand back because most of that went to paying commissions and marketing cost.
