I used to rely heavily on CNET.com to find reliable software to try before buying or use for free.  Those days are over.

The last several times I have downloaded programs I have been SCRUPULOUS about un-checking boxes during installation to prevent the install of unwanted programs, features or changes to my system- but now I find that no matter what I do I still end up with unwanted programs and changes in addition to search engine re-direct and hijacking.

Obviously CNET is not examining the downloads for these features and malware, or is in direct cahoots with the software companies- as is evidenced by the CNET installer that serves as a blinder between the hidden malware and any attempts to scan before installation.

I recently attempted to install FREE RAM XP, and found my Chrome settings redirected and changed, requiring re-installation to undo the damage.  As previously stated, this type of event has become more and more prevalent over the last few years.
