Coast Dental This dentist refuses to treat me me unless I spend almost $1,000.00 in unnecessary deep cleanings Casselberry, Florida
On my initial visit I was told I had gum infections that required deep cleanings and extensive dental work. I had just been to a different dentist 8 months prior and was told with the exception of one tooth that needed to come out, my gums were fine. The one tooth was bothering me when I went to Coast Dental, and they sent me to an oral surgeon for the removal, and then I would return to Coast for a bridge.
While I was at the oral surgeon's office, I asked for a second opinion about my gums, he said they were not that bad and I did not need the deep cleanings that Coast Dental was insisting I have to get. I called Coast Dental and told them I only wanted a routine cleaning and to get the bridge I need, now they refuse to do the work until I get the deep cleaning.
The hygienist is argumentive, has her sales pitch memorized, and does not listen to anything that is told to her. The dentist does not speak to the patient directly, only in third party with the assistant. The office staff is very friendly and pleasant, but I will never return to this office or any other Coast Dental. A co-worker of mine had the same experience with a Coast Dental in Osceola County so obviously this is how they are trained to run their business.

Big lesson: Don't go to chain dental clinics such as Coast Dental, Greenberg dental, Aspen dental etc.
They have middle managers that the doctors and staff must answer to.
This should be illegal as it is not in the public's best interest but unfortunately you must follow the money trail to politicians, the insurance lobby, and lawyers.
There are sales pitches as the original poster stated and if you do not sell unnecessary treatment they will fire the staff. The oversells of deep cleanings stated in the original poster's report is well-known.
Find a reputable dentist with a caring attitude. Pay out of pocket if you have to. Don't let insurance dictate your life. Stay away from the chains.
