Coconut Joes Lists one price on the website and then charges a higher price when you pick up. Bakersfield California
I'm in Bakersfield on business and wanted a quick easy dinner. Across the street from the Marriott Residence Inn is a place called Coconut Joes. I look them up on Trip Advisor and Yelp and they seem pretty well thought of. I ordered a tri tip sandwich. The menu says:Original Tri-Tip Sandwich $7.99 w/2 sides and BBQ sauce. I ordered fries and a side of corn. This should have cost $7.99. When I go to pick it up I am charged $11.77,WHAT?? Well the sandwich is is now $8.99, the fries count as 2 sides with an upcharge of $0.99 and the corn is $1.79.
They could have considered the corn a side and charged me for the fries but they wouldn't have made as much. And the menu says the corn, canned by the way, is $1.19 on their website. When I questioned why the website menu was different I was told, "yeah we've been meaning to update it. Just haven't gotten around to it." I was told if I had any complaints I should call Joe at 661-431-6528. No point in arguing the girl working the register was about 18 and her supervisor not much old. And the food was mediocre at best.
