Complaint Review: Coit

My husband, 7 week old daughter, and myself have been displaced from our home for the past 3 weeks due to a sewer backup in our building. Currently, the place is still inhabitable and the projected date for us to be able to return is still not clear. During the restoration process, Coit was involved in many processes for which they expect the tenants to pay.

Our landlord authorized for this company to perform the entire restoration project thinking that it would all be covered by his insurance.  They moved all of our belongings out of the apartment to a storage unit and cleaned every piece of fabric without our authorization.  Now, they will not release our belongings until we pay the bill(roughly $9000!).  

None of our fabrics needed to be cleaned, but they were laundered anyway.  The apartment is less than 1000 sq ft and they are charging an exorbitant amount of money for what was done and won't release any of our belongings, including my newborn's necessities.  There is no reason why moving items to a storage unit in the basement and cleaning clothes should cost this much.  It seems as if this company is trying to overcharge insurance companies.
