In the mail I received a notice about the College Funding Center. They sounded as if they could help me prepare me for college. We went to a meeting and signed up with their company. At first they sent me news letters and other information about scholarships, SAT & ACT test dates, and things to do during your senior year of high school. After a while any imformation packets stopped, we didn't get anything else about them through the mail.

Now a few days ago I received a simple postcard stating that they are no longer in service. They didn't even refer us to another company or anything. I guess my dad was right: they probably were trying to rip us off. Now my mom has to start all over again saving money for when I go off to college.

Hi. I was also ripped off by Al Barone, Donna Barone, Joe Mulcahy, and the College Funding Center for $995. You need to file a complaint with the Texas Attorney General (information can be found by doing an internet search or calling your state's Attorney General). You need to get their special form, send 2 copies of all related information, and send it in. My hope is that if there are enough complaints, they will investigate. Also, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has launched an investigation against the College Funding Center - look on their web site as well (I also filed a complaint with the FTC). Make formal complaints to the government agencies so that they will investigate the College Funding Center. If nobody files complaints, the government agencies will not be aware of the problem. The College Funding Center was supposed to help my 14 year old son go to college (in the year 2007), they have not fulfilled the contract and will not refund my money - this is fraudulent activity that must be stopped. Please file the formal complaints and let the world know what the College Funding Center did, this will help other people from being ripped off as well.
Thank you.
