Complaint Review: collegiate housing service

before i moved to indy to begin college at lincoln tech i was lokking at appartments on the internet and i stunbled apon Colliegate housing (CHS) and it seemed to be pretty good at face value so i set it up and me and my family drove to indy. the next morning we went to the school for a housing meeting and everything made perfectly good sense like no parties, no boozs, (under 21 group) and so on. i signed my lease and we went to the appartment. the first appartment was very clean and very good state of repair. i didnt get a chance to meet all my roommate for a couple days.

went i had first moved there was a nice old lady who ran the office and from what i heard all this had started when she retired two months after i had moved in

So the frist 2 months where very smooth sailing until one of my roommates dropped out and we had a empty spot. no less than one week after this i got a letter in the mail saying that im being moved to a different apartment. ok so i went to the appartment and the very secound i walked in i notice that there where holes in the walls, mold all around the shower, greasey hand prints all over the walls, the carpiets were dirty and torn up, the stove didnt have the burners on it. one of the cabenits where about to fall off the wall, the water and eletric to the appartment where off and there was a horrible odor in the appartment.

i go to the chs office and bring all this up and the new gal running the office didnt seem to care in the least she told me that i would just have to work with it until they can get maintance to come and get things fixed (in the dryest voice possible) and guess what, they never came. i ended up doing alot of work my self just to get the appartment to a livable condiction.

about 4 months later two of my other roommated graduated and that let me with myself and my roommate izzy (who im actually pertty good firends with now) we got mail saying that we where being moved again so i though ok fair enough, and went to the office to get my new address.

now this is the point that chs crossed the line with me

i got my address and went to the new appartment to inspect it and meet the guys. when i got there i noticed the smell of pot and as i walk inside there were two guy sitting on the couch smoking pot and they didnt even live there. turned out that they where firend of the guy who lived there. this is a huge no i my world i have a cdl and its how i worked my way though college and i was not about to put all that on the line at this appartment. i went to the office and explained the situation to them and they said they would find a different appartment for me after what seemed like pulling teeth for 3 hours.

while i was there they wanted to go and do my move out inpsection of the appartment i had been in so we went over to the appartment they charged me for every single repair that i had done to the apparment so that it was livable and lable it all as vandalisim and destruction of property even down to getting rid of the mold in the bathrooms. 

after this i waited for 2 weeks to find out about my new address and they charged me rent for two differnet appartments in one month because i had to be in a different appartment from the pot heads. i got moved out finally to a small little apparment i got there and this appartment is even worse than the secound one i moved into there where switches that if you flip them you would get shocked and water pipes that were leaking onto the floor. i didnt even stay for 5 mintues i took my key off my ring put it on a dresser and left.

i went and got my own appartment that i still live in to this day.

everyone needs to know about this and do not go though them after they found out i left they charged $1000 for breaking my lease then sent to a collection agency to get there money. after everything was done i ended up oweing chs $4300 that im still paying off and its worth every dime of it.
