Our lease ends on Oct. 31, 2003. However, due to my husbands deployment I wish to return to my homestate to be with friends and family. I visited with Colonial Commercial to see what our options were. They told us that we could pay an advertising fee and they would list the house as an available rental in all the locations that they usually advertise, the paper, their website, the Fort Hood housing list, etc. until it was rented. When they found a new renter we were to be released from our lease. Sounds fair, right? We thought to to, so we paid the fee.

Then we found out that they were NOT advertising. The only thing that we had was a sign in our yard, which I believe was left there to give us the illusion that it was being advertised when it clearly was not. Also, they were telling people who called to inquire about the house that "it has already been rented." (I have a recording to verify this.) I went to discuss this with them and all they could do was lie.

They told me that we were on their list. I had been in previously to pick up a list, and our house was NOT listed. They said that we were on their website. It was NOT listed on their website. They denied telling people that it was already rented, but I have the recording that says otherwise. They wouldn't even speak to me in a rational, adult-like manner. They yelled at me and told me to get out of their office. They said that they would give us the advertising fee back, and I told them that I didn't want it, I wanted them to do what they were supposed to do to begin with. After all, if it had been advertised from the very beginning it could have already been rented. They told me they were giving us the money back anyway and told us that they wouldn't be advertising at all.

So basically, they did not provide the service that was agreed upon and paid for, and tried to conceal from us the fact that they were not advertising. And after trying to talk to them about it they think that they can just cancel the deal.

Colonial Commercial seems like a nice business until you sign your name on the dotted line. After that they think that they can treat people unfairly and rudely. They just don't care about tenant relations. I have never dealt with a company that is so UNPROFESSIONAL. They don't have a clue as to what the term customer service means. If you don't want to be taken advantage of DON'T RENT FROM COLONIAL COMMERCIAL! This report is only intended to reflect the personal experience that I have had with this company.
