I went with Colonial home warranty because the wonderful salesman(who won't call me back) told me everything I wanted to hear! The price was right, and I paid for a year up front. A few weeks ago I called them because my fan outside on my air conditioning was not working. It took 48 hours to even get a call from the contractor. The contractor comes out 3 days after I filed the claim and says that they can't replace anything the system needs to replaced. The claim gets filed and I hear nothing from Colonial. I had to contact them for a status to receive a call from a supposed manager telling me that the claim was denied. The reason number one was because it was in my first 30 days of coverage? What good is a contract that I paid in full if I can't use it after the first 30 days for the contract to take effective has passed? The second reason was because there was a freon leak? They called that a pre existing condition? How was I suppose to know that freon was leaking and that's why it didn't work? It worked fine all summer. Isn't that why you call for a repair? Then I was told even though I didn't know about it, It is still considered a pre existing condition. I have never hear of such a thing. Then I lose my temper because I couldn't believe what I was being told. I cancelled the contract to then be told that there is a $50 cancellation fee. I paid $356 up front plus a $45 service fee. I was credited $141.25??? I have disputed the last payment I made to them with my bank.  It's my fault for believing the slimmy salesman JIM when I asked him about the cancellation policy he said, "YOU WILL GET ALL YOUR MONEY BACK!"I have everything I asked him and his responses in an email. My point is do not use this company. They take your money and then come up with every excuse not to do anything. That's why they want the yearly payment up front. This is the second home warranty company that I have been scammed from. I am so fed up with Colonial and their un professional service! I suggest everyone report them to the Better Business Bureau as well.
