Complaint Review: Colonial Home Warranty

I got suckered into this thru an internet special promotion in Aug. 2013, and heard about coverage from Mark Gold, but not the clever weasel worded fine print conditions for actual coverage until printed contract was received in mail the following month. A previous victim from AZ has said it well about their catch-22 defenses to paying out on claims.

My first claim in Nov. 2013 involved some to-ing and fro-ing with company and contractor but eventually was completed. I should have been suspicious when I told claims guy to use the promo "yearly free service fee" for my 1st claim, and he asked if I "didn't want to save it for later use?"!!  I tried to contact Colonial Home Warranty by phone today and got a recorded message "Our office is currently closed; please try your call again later" during regular business hours.  No better luck going to their website which didn't take any new claim input, and a message came back that the URL doesn't exist!  Looks like these flakes did a "bust-out" operation a la "Goodfellas" and are onto their next scam. I later learned from Rip-Off Reports site that the Del. address is a fraud too, and then note that envelope its contract was mailed out from was Kearny, NJ 07102 zip code. Copyright date on contract is 2013 so appears these flakes weren't around very long.
