Complaint Review: Color Country Cattery

Chris Thompson is not an ethical business woman or a conscientious breeder. I purchased a kitten from her who she vaccinated just 12 hours before the kitten had to be transported to a new home. The kitten got very sick from the vaccination, and the stress of travel, and the adjustment to a new home. I had him to the vet 3 times, but he could not recover from from the mysterious respiratory illness. I asked her for a refund and to return the cat, whose health I no longer felt confident in. She said yes, but then she reneged on her promise saying she would be “out of town for three weeks,” which I knew was a lie because she has dozens of animals at home and a job as a nurse.
The kitten was not socialized when we got him. He had been left in the kennel with little human interaction. She is neglectful and the kennel is dirty.
I could not keep paying for his medical bills, so when she backed out of her agreement to take him back, I had to surrender him to a very small, humane no kill shelter with a medical clinic. He was hospitalized for 7 days being injected with very strong antibiotics and fluids as he was dehydrated from high fever.
She was suddenly available, and she behaved very poorly saying it was in the contract that her kittens can’t be taken to shelters. She called us names and threatened to report us to animal control. It is NOT in the contract, only the resale of her animals.
This woman is a liar, a hysteric, and most importantly, she is a bad breeder and an unethical business woman. Beware.
