Colorado Decks R Us Kevin McGee 473-ROOF wwwsrus.com 719-392-3357719-392-8289 kevin@codecksrus.com requires 10% project down then uses to file permits refuses to refund after his plans fail permit Colorado Springs, Colorado
On 8/12/2011 after having the company head of www.codecksrus.com/ Mr.Kevin McGee come to our home to do a site survey he came back and stated he could build us a deck cover for $15,000. He proudly stated he would build CAD plans & get the plans regional approved- no problem. He stated on the contract he would start work on the 24th.
After not hearing from them a few days prior to starting work date I called them. They did not return my call for over a week & I called back about 20 times. They called me back finally & stated that they would get back to me after finishing a current job. The getting back to me entailed a registered letter 4 weeks later (which was not signed) stating he expended a lot of personal time & money getting plans approved and making drawings. It turns out that performed no work, then took my $1500 claiming it was for work he did and said I owed him more money. Nowhere in his contract does it specify charges for plans & permits. He refused to return my money or perform the work as contracted.
I checked with Pikes Peak Regional Building about the plans & permits & I was told he applied for permit funds back. All we have to show is a drained bank account. This has all the appearances of a finely engineered scam in which this company makes money for doing nothing. I will happily provide you copies if you email me at (((REDACTED)))

My Name Is Kevin McGe owner, Operator of DECKSRUS, Inc. I recentently went to the BBB medeation w/ Bob who filed this damaging report and after an hour of mediation Bob Curtis understood why his 10 % down was spent. After (3) sets of plans for his roof design and (3) visits to Pikes Peak Regional Building Dept. and stuctural engineer. Unfortunatly Bobs project was denied by regional building because of neccesary structural changes that Bob was not wanting to make plus extra costs. He agreed that the cost was justified and we closed the case shaking hands. The report is filed w/ the BBB of southern Colorado. I've been in business for over 16 years and have never come accross a situation like this all my jobs have been finished w/ happy customers. I have an A+ rating w/ the BBB and great referances.
Respectfully,
Kevin McGee
